This step covers creating the contract for ACME Inc. and adding the compute and storage products with their usage-based pricing.

Prerequisites

Contracts

A contract in Zenskar is a structured digital representation of a commercial agreement between you and your customer.

Products

A product in Zenskar is a structured, reusable representation of a good or service offered by your business.

Create the basic contract

  1. Log in to your Zenskar dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Contracts > Contracts.
  3. Click + ADD NEW CONTRACT.
  4. Fill in the contract details:
    • Get started with a plan (optional): Leave this empty — we will add products manually.
    • Contract information:
      FieldDescription / Example

  5. Click PROCEED to create the contract.

Add and configure products

Zenskar navigates you to the newly created contract’s summary page. You will now add and configure pricing for the compute and storage products.

CPU usage product

  1. Click ADD PRODUCT.
  2. In the Add Product modal, select + CREATE NEW PRODUCT.
  3. In the Create Product form:
    • Product name: Compute Usage
    • (Optional) Fill in description, SKU, tax code, or custom attributes.
  4. Click SAVE & PROCEED.
  5. Back in the Add Product modal, under Pricing Details, click + ADD PRICE.
  6. In the Add Pricing Details form:
    • Pricing Model: Per Unit
    • Currency: USD
    • Price: 0.05
  7. Under Usage, select Metered:
    • Billable metric: Total CPU Hours (defined in step 3)
    • Unit: per CPU hour
  8. Billing Cadence: Recurring, every 1 month.
  9. Click CONFIRM.

Storage usage product

  1. Click ADD PRODUCT.
  2. In the Add Product modal, select + CREATE NEW PRODUCT.
  3. In the Create Product form:
    • Product name: Storage Usage
    • (Optional) Fill in description, SKU, tax code, or custom attributes.
  4. Click SAVE & PROCEED.
  5. Back in the Add Product modal, under Pricing Details, click + ADD PRICE.
  6. In the Add Pricing Details form:
    • Pricing Model: Per Unit
    • Currency: USD
    • Price: 0.05
  7. Under Usage, select Metered:
    • Billable metric: Total Storage GB-Months (defined in step 3)
    • Unit: per GB-Month
  8. Billing Cadence: Recurring, every 1 month.
  9. Click CONFIRM.
Once both products are configured, your contract is fully set up for usage-based billing.
