A discount reduces the billed amount for a product or across an entire contract phase.
| Level | Available |
|---|
| Product pricing | Yes |
| Contract phase | Yes |
A product-level discount applies only to that product’s line item. A phase-level discount applies to the combined total of all product line items in the phase.
Discount types
| Type | How it works |
|---|
| Percentage | Reduces the billed amount by a percentage of the total. A 20% discount on a $500 charge produces a $100 reduction. |
| Fixed | Reduces the billed amount by a flat monetary amount. A $50 discount on a $500 charge produces a $450 charge. |
Configuration fields
| Field | Required | Description |
|---|
| Type | Yes | The discount type: percentage or fixed. |
| Amount | Yes | The percentage value or fixed amount to deduct. |

How discounts are applied
Discounts run after Free Units and Grants are processed, and before Commitments are enforced.
When multiple discounts exist at the same level, they are applied in the order they were added. Each discount operates on the amount remaining after the previous one.
Example: A product has a 10% product-level discount. The phase also has a 5% phase-level discount. Zenskar applies the product-level discount first, then the phase-level discount to the remaining total.
